What is it all about?
XR (Extended Reality) Innovators is a brand new offering for students (grade 4 and older) that have a passion for technology. The end goal is to enable each student to develop high end VR (Virtual Reality) / AR (Augmented Reality) / MR (Mixed Reality) experiences, giving them a head start in the use and development of this cutting-edge technology.
In this fully hands-on course students will become experts in Extended Reality technologies, which includes Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality. They will use the latest headset (primarily in the form of the Meta Quest 3) to master the technology, and to experience what it has to offer.
In the first year it is about the fundamentals – mastering key technology concepts. They will also explore various applications and practically discover what the potential and shortcomings are.
In the subsequent year the focus will shift to 3D content and digital asset creation. It will include 3D video creation, 3D modelling and animation, as well as photogrammetry techniques.
Finally, the students will combine their experiences from the first two years with programming in Unity in order to develop their own custom VR / AR / MR experiences, giving them an edge above anyone only learning XR development after school.
This is a future technology that is only now starting to grow in popularity globally. For eager students with a passion for technology it is their opportunity to change the world.
